How is the growth of algae determined by the effect of fertilizer?

Purpose: To determine the effect of fertilizer (such as farm run-off) on the growth of algae.

Procedure: 4 jars of pond water. 1 jar is control; other jars have measured amounts of fertilizer (10 ml, 25 ml. and 10 ml. with cover). Place jars in sunshine.

Conclusion: Fertilizer causes algae bloom. This can harm the pond and pond life.
